Key Variables in Solar Production

- Panel Wattage: The peak power output of a single panel under ideal conditions. Modern panels typically range from 300W to 450W.
- Number of Panels: The total size of your array. A standard residential system usually has between 10 and 25 panels.
- Peak Sun Hours: This is not just the length of the day, but the number of hours where the sun's intensity is strong enough for optimal production (usually 1,000 watts per square meter). This varies significantly by geographic location.
- System Efficiency: No system is 100% efficient. Energy is lost through DC-to-AC inverters, wiring, shading, and dust on the panels. A standard "derate factor" is around 75-80%.
Calculating Your Savings
